Lamborghini, the Italian car manufacturer has taken the first step into non-fungible tokens (NFTs). www.thekeylab.co.uk , which is dubbed the Space Key, is a piece that was developed in collaboration with a unknown artist. The one-of-a-kind NFT is a tangible item that links to exclusive digital artwork, accessible via a QR code that is located on the back. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned in the coming weeks.
The Space Key is made from carbon fiber composite material which Lamborghini shipped to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of an investigation project. After returning to earth the carbon fiber was transformed into this distinctive artwork. The physical object includes an NFT serial number that is linked to the digital image via QR code on the back.
For those who do not know, NFTs are unique identifiers that are recorded on a distributed blockchain ledger that is linked to digital assets such as a photograph, video or any other recording. This lets owners ensure the authenticity, scarcity, and the trackability of their tokens through the internet.
Working with NFT PRO, a white-label NFT solution for companies, Lamborghini is taking this unique approach to art to the next level. In the coming weeks Lamborghini will be sharing details about the exciting project including the name of the unknown artist and a timeline for the auction.
The physical element of Space Key
After numerous social media posts, each one revealing some kind of space-themed item, the Italian supercar maker Lamborghini has entered the world of non-fungible (NFT) tokens with an exclusive project named Space Key. The NFT was created in collaboration with an unknown artist and will be auctioned in a few short weeks. Its base is made of the most advanced carbon fiber composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a study. The carbon fiber has been 3D printed to form the basis of each Space Key, which is connected to an exclusive, entirely digital design using a QR code on its backside. Five Space Keys have been produced.
NFTs are unique identification numbers that can be recorded on distributed ledgers such as the Blockchain and tied to a digital asset like pictures. They're all the rage among those with more money than sense So it was only a matter time before an automaker decided to capitalize on the trend.
Space Key consists of five units. It was constructed with a physical part of carbon fiber composite that was shipped to the ISS in 2019. In the coming weeks and days, more details will be revealed, including the name and digital artwork of the artist, as well as how to purchase one of the five Space Keys.

The digital artwork
After weeks of social-media posts hinting it, luxury car maker Lamborghini finally announced its first initiative for tokens that are non-fungible (NFT). Created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm) The "collector's work" is limited to five units and will be auctioned off soon.
Each Space Key contains a block composed of a carbon-fire composite material, which was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a research project in 2019. After returning to Earth the space key was made into the QR code which links it to the digital component of the Space Key.
Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that occurs at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Over 600 million pixels each of the five images that were taken by photographer Fabian Oefner.
Oefner utilized a balloon with a camera, which took each of the individual shots, which were then merged into the final image. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, but the exact date and time of the auction haven't yet been announced yet.
